Opening day

Well manfriend and I woke up at 2:20am today to make it to the always lovely BWI airport for our six am flight. I went to bed at ten like a toddler might so it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Plus I slept the entire two hour car ride. We are waiting to board right now. I am typing this post from my iPhone...I feel like such a techie.

I personally love airports. I know some people do not, but I happen to love long lines and overpriced food so they are a great place for me. The five dollar bagel I am enjoying right now is just divine.

Honestly though I do love airports. Not sure why, but people watching is probably my number four all time favorite activity, so that could be the reason. The only place I can think of with better people watching is a county fair or maybe Walmart.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow morning I am boarding a very early flight to Detroit.  I might be just a little bit excited.

Jose and I are going to be picked up from the airport and head straight downtown for some Opening Day shenanigans.  I love me some shenanigans, and I love me some baseball. We should be in a bar with a drink in hand no later than 9am. It is going to be a good day.

Saturday I am spending the entire day with my family.  There is a new member I need to corrupt, so I look forward to meeting little Arthur John.  I'm pretty sure I like him already, he looks sassy in all his pictures and wears stylish onesies.  I also plan to take my niece on a date for just the two of us on Saturday.  I moved when she was pretty young, so we have never really done anything just together.  We are going to Build a Bear.  I looked online and those little f-ers cost an arm and a leg.  Evie is really a cute kid though so it is worth it.

I am looking forward to spending a few days back in my parent's house, having my meals cooked for me, seeing my friends, walking my family dog Butch, and laughing a lot.

The one thing I am not excited about is the trip to the airport.  I didn't think about it when I decided to move here but my little middle of nowhere town is 2 hours from the airport.  That means for a six am flight we have to leave by....I can't even say it, makes me too sad.

I will leave you with a few recent text messages from my mom and sister.  I would also like to note my crazy mother skipped a funeral last night so she wouldn't miss her exercise class.  The woman is in great shape.  I will give her that.

(my texts are on the right in green, but you probably know that)

(I'm going to miss this little dude a lot...this is him yesterday impatiently waiting to go to the dog park)

House Tour

I am really into interior design, I have been ever since my parents finally quit being cheap and bought us kids cable back in middle school.  I became addicted to HGTV the moment I laid eyes on it.  To this day I spend way too much time watching shows like Property Brothers, Bang for your Buck, House Hunters, you name it...I watch it.  I feel like they have stopped running some real gems like Color Splash and Design on a Dime, but it still the best channel on TV next to the Food Network of course.  That being said, I figured I would post some photos of my own digs.

Enjoy.

It's nothing fancy, but we like it.

Just kidding, I actually live in a shitty little apartment.  These are all pictures from Pinterest, click the links if you want to see where they are from.  I cannot wait to have my own home in the near future and decorate it just like this, but for now I am content with my tiny place and dog drool covered couch.  I am not planning to stay in this town too long, so I have no intention of buying a house here (there is that small issue of the down payment also) and with a move in the (hopefully) not too distant future I can't justify spending a ton of money on furniture.  My goal is to only have one carload of stuff the next time I move...no Uhaul, no zillion trips, no movers.  Just me and my dog, manfriend, and our clothes are going with us.  I have however done my best to make my space look cute for the time being, well at least as cute as a space can look when the only stores within an hour of me worth a poo are Target and Marshalls.  Luckily those are the two best stores in American next to TJ Maxx and Urban Outfitters so I am in luck.

How I Know I'm Becoming Geriatric

So I turned 28 a few weeks ago.  I know, I am old as dirt.  I have no particular problem with aging, but this birthday has made me realize two things: first I really need to get going on my "before 30" to do list, and two I am not a kid anymore.

Manfriend and I purchased a new vacuum about a month ago, and for some reason I got really excited picking it out and using it.  A few years ago I got excited to buy halter tops and jean skirts from American Eagle, and now it's cleaning products...is this normal?? I am not totally mature however as I did pick it out solely based on color and that fact that it has an attachment called the "paw".

Speaking of American Eagle, I feel really old in stores such as American Eagle.  I used to live for those types of places now I find myself asking, is this too young for me?? Similar to Brittney in her "Not a girl, not yet a woman" phase I am not ready for the old lady clothes, but I am certainly no junior either.

I also know I am getting old because I get as excited for a good meal as I do a good drink.  Shit, I don't think I ate one meal in college.  I just drank and occasionally had some chips and salsa....now I love to cook and eat a wholesome dinner every night.

I know I am old because I only drink on work nights about three times a year.  I used to go out every night and it didn't phase me.  Speaking of work, I am certainly aging because I actually care a lot about my career now.  I sometimes miss those carefree days where I just goofed off for 8 hours and they paid me.  Now I stay late and bring work home by choice....OLD.

Perhaps the most stunning realization that I am in fact a geezer occurred to me recently when I went out to a club for girls night.  It was cold, and my friends and I all dressed accordingly.  I used to tromp around in tube tops and mini skirts in January, in Michigan.  In college we would walk a mile to a party in the dead of winter with no coat and open toed shoes.  I think wardrobe wisdom happens somewhere in your mid-twenties, so this does not make me feel old, what does is the fact that I no longer judge cute young girls I see dressing the way I used to.  At the club we went to there were many pretty young thangs wearing shorts, skirts, dresses, etc... in my mid-twenties I would have been all like, "what a hoe", "why is she wearing that" even though I wore the same things when I was their age.  Now I look at those girls fondly like a grandmother might, "wow, that little whipper snapper looks cute", "I would have worn that back in my day".  A few of my friends I was with that night were still in the judgy age group, they will change just like I did.

Just a few more reasons:

-My feet are always cold and I wear granny slippers around the house.
-I went outside in my robe one morning last weekend
(I was still drunk so not sure if this officially counts).
-I am almost always in bed by midnight during the week.
-I love discounts.
-It took me a really long time to get on the Twitter bandwagon and I still don't 100% get it.
-I always wear a sweater.
-I think garage sales are the cat's ass.
-I just said the cat's ass.

Weekend Update

I watched quite a lot of The Best of Jimmy Fallon on SNL this weekend so I figured Weekend Update was a fitting title.  I also had another great weekend, making that three in a row and me a happy camper.  Friday night I went to zumba then manfriend, our friend Natasha and i headed to a few local bars.  The first was a brewery to see our pal's band Stereocase play.  They were good as always.

Around midnight we made our way to a dive bar that to our surprise had a band playing as well.  They were pretty good considering I think they were all in middle school.  I seriously have never seen such youngsters in a bar at night.  They must have climbed out of their windows because there is no way their moms let them hang out in a seedy bar past curfew.  Honestly though this band made me feel old as shit because they looked like toddlers even through I assume they must have been at least 21 to legally be in a bar at that time (right?) who knows maybe they make exceptions for musical babies.
(Stereocase, not the younsters)

Saturday morning I cleaned my house, went to Zumba and a jog, only to undo my workout by eating an obscene amount of Mexican food for lunch.  That night manfriend held a beer tasting at our house.  (This is the second of many we will probably have).  Basically we have a bunch of good friends over, eat amazing appetizers, and get real wasted on expensive beer that we drink from tiny glasses.   Manfriend is very, very into craft beer.  He loves to shop for beer more than I love to shop at Target.  He will drive hours to get his paws on a rare beer...some may call it an obsession, I just call it alcoholism.  We had a great time and manfriend made lamb chops which I found kind of creepy considering it was the day before Easter, but at least there was no rabbit on the menu.  The next morning I woke up to beer bottles all over the floor a very sticky table and manfriend passed out on the couch.  I am normally pretty good about cleaning up before I go to bed, so I must have had a real good time.

(I dunno why manfriend has his eyes closed, and yes that mason jar is moonshine, and no I did not have any)

Sunday we went to a friend's house for Easter dinner with her family and some other friends.  It was really nice to be with a family on Easter since we didn't get to spend it with our own rents.  We ate a ton of delicious food and even got Easter baskets.  Mostly we just hung out and talked and laughed and it was perfect.  And as a result of this weekend I cannot eat any food for at least two months.  And by two months I mean until noon today.

Hope the bunny was good to all of you!

The first blogger move

I have decided, not because I think I am the best blog in the west, but because I love when my posts get a bunch of page views and I almost pee my pants when I get comments, that I want to dip my toe into the blogger world.  If you don't have a blog this post will sound like gibberish to you, because honestly it is still sort of gibbery to me, but I am learning.  I promise this will be the last time I talk about "blogging" for a while.  If you aren't interested in bloging, just do a shot everytime you hear the words: blog, blogger, or blogging, and you will forget you ever read this...start at the very beginning obviously.

I have done my fair share of blog stalking.  I have discovered there is crazy shit out there like buttons, and linkups, and sponsors...who the heck knew.  I thought it was like livejournal used to be back in high school where you just wrote stories and people read them, and then it sometimes lead to drama in the hallway.

I've learned there is like a secret society of blogs somewhat like the skulls from that movie with Joshua Jackson.  You might have to eat a goldfish or something to get in and I am definitely not ready for all that, but I am going to take a baby step or two.  I want to be more like the waterboy than part of the actual team for now I think.

Upon researching these cults, I have found blogs that I really love.  I have also found many I do not like at all, some bitc*es be full of themselves.  I have realized I do want this blog to get out there, I want to be accountable for keeping it updated and I want people to read it because I like doing it.  I do not want to learn all about html and other technical stuff (at least not right now).  I don't want to become bff's with every blog out there, just the ones I think are awesome.  I don't want this to be a job or a business, I just like it. I also really like some of you bloggers, just from reading your posts.

Especially if you are snotty or borderline alcoholic...I like you guys a lot!

So what is the first blogger move you don't ask?? Well, I decided to try this whole sponsoring on a blog thing.  I bit the bullet and contacted the first two ladies' blogs who were ever nice to me and my personal faveorites. Most likely if you read my blog you read theirs, but in case you are insane and don't check out Helene and Stephanie.  They both have dogs and love booze, so naturally I like them. If there are others out there you recommend, I welcome your suggestions.  I also apologize in advance to anyone who I decide to inquire with about sponsoring, because I am a total moron when it comes to the subject.  I do not know how to make a button or any of that, so good luck with me...I do have a credit card however, so you might want to jack up your prices real quick.

The Unthinkable Happened...

A few weeks ago the moment all dog moms fear came true...

I was peed on at the dog park.

Fred was not the culprit which makes it so much worse.

Nope it was some little bastard newbie to the park.  He walked up, lifted his leg and pissed right on my ankle...not cool dude, not cool at all.

I told Fred about it on the way home, he was too busy chasing his ball to kick the dog's ass for doing it, and he was shocked and disgusted.

I just hope justice is served and the mutt winds up on the sex offender registry with R Kelly and all the other golden showerers.  I am just not that kind of girl!
